What Makes Warming Lube Hot?

What causes the warming sensation, or more likely burning sensation, in KY Warming Jelly , KY Passion, Wet Warming Gel, Astroglide Warming and other similar warming lubes? You may be surprised to find out it is the same ingredient that makes Fireball Cinnamon Whisky hot. Fireball, the Whisky which was recently taken off the market in 3 European countries due to the high concentration of propylene glycol. It may also come as a surprise that the US and Canada version of Fireball allows much more propylene glycol than what is allowed in the European Union.

So what does that have to do with lube? Propylene Glycol is what makes your lube “warm” also. I found this out when I was researching products for a Toxic Toy workshop. I purchased Ky Warming Liquid to compare ingredients to the Sliquid Sensation, that I carry at Entice Me. I was shocked to find no essential oils or warming agents.

Propylene Glycol can have toxic effects in some circumstances, including for people suffering with pre-existing skin or eye conditions, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry. In recent years, the substance has been used as a less-toxic alternative to ethylene glycol in antifreeze, which was killing pets who lapped up the sweet-tasting engine fluid. But the Humane Society warns that propylene glycol is “still toxic.”

I have found many complaints about reactions to warming products and I have met many customers who have had horrible experiences with sexual enhancement products and lubricants.

Choose for yourself, but I know what warming lube I would want to use in my body.
